Scheme closures

In any pension scheme the prime responsibility for safeguarding members' interests lies with the trustees. Protecting these interests is particularly important when the scheme is being closed and wound-up. As this exercise begins the long-term aims are extinguished, short-term issues take over and a key goal becomes the orderly and efficient handling of this process, while balancing the interests of all the beneficiaries. The right independent trustee will provide reassurance to members.

At Capital Cranfield we have long since recognised the specialist nature of being trustee to schemes in wind-up and have a separate business arm dedicated to this area of work.

This business is arranged around the 'Key Person' management concept, understood by the Pensions Regulator and which, together with a large support team made up of 'Trustee Case Handlers', ensures that the right work is performed at the right level.

Our ability to work through the complex regulatory and legal requirements makes sure that each appointment is handled in a proper, cost-efficient and timely way.

What makes us different?

  • We do not offer any service other than trusteeship and are truly 'independent'

  • A wide range of professional experience, including legal, is available within our organisation and can be used before commissioning costly external services

  • Project Plans and Budgets are employed as management tools, with regular measurement of fees to ensure value for money

  • Contact is maintained with stakeholders and regulatory organisations throughout the wind-up process

  • We are meticulous in our retention and recording of data

Verification Service

For a business in crisis, not understanding its pension scheme can be a major headache for management and often an unwanted problem for business recovery advisers or insolvency practitioners. Capital Cranfield will verify these arrangements helping business recovery advisers or insolvency practitioners to fulfil their obligations.
