PHILIP WHITTOME

Philip has worked with Capital Cranfield Trustees since 2010. He represents Capital Cranfield as chairman of trustees and as a trustee board member to schemes ranging in asset size from £20m to £120m with both defined benefit and defined contribution structures.

Having gained a Double First in Japanese at Cambridge University, Philip worked in the investment industry for 24 years, latterly as a Director of the institutional business and senior fund manager of a major international investment management firm.

Philip has several years' trustee experience, including hands-on work on investment policy and implementation, scheme funding and sponsor negotiations and corporate governance issues. His open and collegiate style and his readiness to put forward independent solutions tailored to the real needs of each scheme make him ideally suited to be an effective independent trustee.
